In this project based workshop each student will be given a flat sheet of copper and will learn the process of transforming the sheet into a vessel using the techniques of sinking (hammering into an indentation) and angle raising (hammering the outside of the form over a metal stake). This workshop begins at 9 AM and finishes whenever each student is happy with their final product. Raising is a very time consuming process and this workshop should serve to introduce beginning and intermediated metalsmiths to the work process of creating bowls, vessels, and synclastic sculptures.
